Wisdom Circle Community Gathering

This circle was formed from the “Leaning Into Aging” workshop held earlier this year from interest in continued exploration of the topics around how we can lift each other up as we all celebrate and honor ourselves at any age. This group continues to expand and has become an amazing community of support and discussion. Each time we meet, we welcome newcomers and new perspectives. 

For our Sept. gathering, please bring an affirming quote on aging that you might have come across this summer in a good book, podcast, etc. if you have one. Also, consider a particular challenge you have or anticipate with the maturing process; we will take that into small group discussion. Know that all sharing in our circle time is to be confidential within the group and that everyone’s level of participation is within the individual’s comfort level.

For the last 30-minutes of our session, we will invite guests to lead us in a drumming circle, deepening our connection to community, releasing unwanted energies and feelings about aging, providing an awareness of calm as we traverse a shift in the "seasons of life" and "seasons of nature" with the Fall Equinox.

When we express thoughts in a community of like-minded people, we broaden our wisdom and scope of ways to process life’s changes. I hope you can join us.

Come restore your body and mind with this candlelit workshop combining the power of Reiki, meditation, and gentle yoga. This workshop is a complete mind-body healing experience, designed to open the energy channels in your body and realign your chakras through gentle movement, breath, meditation, aromatherapy, and hands-on Reiki. 

 The workshop will begin with breath work to center ourselves, move into a yoga practice which includes slow movements, deep stretches, and restorative poses as a way to release stuck energy channels. Yoga for Tense Neck & Shoulders- Level 2

Do you find it challenging to relax your neck and shoulders?  If you read, type, drive or work with your hands you may have nagging tightness in your neck, shoulders and upper back. This tension can be relieved by combining warming, strengthening and stretching poses that target key joints and muscles. 

Join us for a second level Yoga for Tense Neck & Shoulders Workshop to build strength and mobility as well as release tension. Explore standing and mat poses, taking a closer look at movements such as raising arms overhead, that may cause discomfort or even injury over time. Increase your awareness of basic anatomy and how your body can become more comfortable through movement.

Suitable for all levels, this workshop will include materials to help identify & visualize our anatomy, a warm up sequence, targeted strength-building poses, and deeper stretches to open and soften shoulders, neck and upper back.

Moon Salutation Workshop with Katie Audia

Chandra Namaskara (Chandra = moon; Namaskara = to bow to) is a gentle yoga flow sequence honoring the cycles of the moon. Moon Salutation is a cooling, meditative practice that includes a series of asana (postures) that sync breath with movement.

Attendees will be guided through a breakdown of the sequence pose by pose, as well as learn about the ancient wisdom of the moon and energies of the moon phases.

Release holiday stress and prepare for the cold of winter with gentle yoga and simple Ayurvedic self-care practices.

In this 2-hour workshop, you will practice self-care through nurturing gentle yoga, exploration of your dosha (mind-body type), and abhyanga (or self-massage). You'll identify your dosha type, learn how to implement some stress-relieving Ayurvedic self-care practices, and create body oil blends suitable for your dosha and for the season. Leaning Into Aging Workshop

When you hear of the words, “aging gracefully”, what does that mean to you? Our culture spends a lot of time trying to stay young, essentially fighting the aging process. What if we looked at aging in a more positive way, embracing each stage of maturity for a greater sense of joy and wellbeing with each present moment?

The Intention of this workshop is to discuss the stages of aging as it pertains to our physical beauty and health, as well as, mental wellbeing. We’ll address appearance and learn ways to embrace our changing beauty with a positive perspective. We’ll also learn to practice gratitude for our bodies, even with limitations, finding comfort with discomfort, and loving ourselves more through self care and kindness. Ultimately, there is a freedom with getting older by having a better sense of who we are sharing that with the world around us.

In this workshop, we'll hear from Janis on why she feels this topic is so important. She’ll guide you through a short meditation to help you feel more present and open to new ways of thinking. Next you’ll watch a TedTalk on loving yourself at any age and have breakout and large group discussions and journaling  on the video and group questions. Last, you’ll move through a Nia class guiding you to move freely in your own way. No experience required, all levels welcome. Please bring a dedicated journal and pen for this workshop.

Spring Detox - 3-Session Series, Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30pm, March 26-April 16 (no in-person class April 2).

Boost your energy with a spring cleanse designed by you! Biologically, nature supports the cleansing of the body in spring. It is a time to clear out the toxins that have built up in your system over the winter months. Detoxifying is an important part of Ayurveda - this includes not only your food, but also your body, and your mind.

This detox will help you:

  • Align with the energies of the season

  • Reset your digestive system

  • Improve your energy

  • Experience mental clarity

  • Kickstart weight loss

  • Learn more about Ayurveda

  • Provide you the support and accountability of a group

Week 1: Ease in through slowly adjusting your diet, cleaning up your schedule (and your kitchen), and prepping and planning for your version of a cleanse (yes you get to design your own!)

Week 2: No meet-up this week. Start your Cleanse - cook simple and nourishing foods, simplify your schedule, meditate, do yoga!

Balancing Owl Yoga is hosting Sound Healing Certifications, Level 1 & 2 lead by "Meditate: School of Mindfulness & Sound Healing".

This interactive training is centered around the teaching of Sound Healing & Vibrational Therapies. The intention for this interactive training is to not only share the theory, science, and practices of Sound Healing, but to give you "hands-on" experience.

Level 1: March 23-24, Sat./Sun. 10am-6pm

Level 2: March 25-26, Mon. 10am-6pm, Tues. 10am-4:30pm

Level 1: Practitioner of Sound Healing Certification - We will take you on a journey of healing using Sound and Intention. We will teach you the science and theory of the practice, as well as allow you to experience several varieties of Sound Bath, Sound Meditation, and Yoga Nidra. You will be taught how to lead Sound Baths/Sound Meditations for groups and individuals using Crystal Singing Bowls, Gongs, Chimes, Drums, and other instruments. This certification includes an Introductory Online teaching that will prepare you for our in-person training. This Level 1 will help you find a passion for the practice and teach the many uses of Sound as a Healing Practice.

Level 2: Practitioner of Vibrational Therapies Certification - This level teaches how to use sound therapeutically in private sessions or with specialized groups. We guide you to use Sound & Vibration to align our clients to a more Harmonized State of Being.

Introduction To Mindfulness & Meditation 6-Week Series

Sundays, 2-3:30pm

Have you been curious about mindfulness & meditation but a bit unsure where to start? This practice can be transformative, particularly when you are learning and practicing in a supportive and kind community. Through a combination of theory, small group dialogue and practice (both formal practice and informal practice), you will be introduced to tools that will help you work skillfully with emotions and thoughts and help you awaken to moments of joy in your life.

Practice areas we will cover include:

  • How to support your body & your mind in meditation

  • Moving from living in your head to inhabiting your body

  • Creating space for response versus reactivity

  • Working skillfully with difficult emotions

  • Cultivating kindness & generosity

  • Identifying helpful & unhelpful thinking patterns

  • Handling common obstacles to meditation

Each week, we will explore a different topic and, in-between classes, you will be supported with suggestions for at-home practices (guided meditations, as well as informal practices) to really allow this skill to flourish in our six weeks together. Enrollment is limited to 18 students. No experience required.

FREE Community Gathering

For our community gathering this month, we'll start with a 5-minute grounding meditation.

We'll then watch a 30-minute documentary: Ram Das, Going Home. From his home on Maui, pioneering researcher, author, and spiritual teacher Ram Dass reflects on love, life and death as his own days draw to a close. Ram Dass was also a guru of modern yoga, psychologist, and writer. His best-selling 1971 book Be Here Now, which has been described by multiple reviewers as "seminal", helped popularize Eastern yoga in the West.

We'll end our time together with open discussion and community connection. Light snacks and refreshments will be available. Bring a snack to share if you’d like and feel free to bring a friend/partner with you (both not required).

 During this workshop, participants will focus on letting go of expectations and integrating a more mindful approach to their wellness goals for 2024. Participants will be invited to engage in discussion around Sankalpa (intention), as well as learn the difference between intention vs expectation. Time will be provided for participants to develop their own personalized wellness intentions in areas of physical, emotional and spiritual wellness utilizing GAP goals model and will be guided through gentle movement, breath work, meditation, and group-facilitated discussion. This 2-week program is designed for students in grades 8-12 to navigate life's challenges with more ease and grace. As the season shifts, teenagers might benefit from extra support to handle potential changes such as adapting to shorter daylight hours, cooler temperatures, and increased academic demands. This program was created to offer tools that might help them feel more grounded and relaxed leading into the year's end.

What to expect:

  • Gentle movements to help remove distractions and cultivate focus and concentration

  • Breath work techniques to release tension and harness serenity

  • Guided mindfulness to find clarity in self-reflection

No experience required. All materials will be provided.

Join us for a Neck & Shoulders Workshop to unwind and release tension with a gentle chair-based sequence focused on increasing ease and mobility.
