The Complete YIN Yoga Experience

This workshop will provide a more in-depth Yin experience with longer holds to allow for a greater impact on the deep connective tissue and subtle body release. We will aim to release tightness in the neck, shoulders, hips/low back and legs.

When connective tissue is dense, it is not able to adequately support joints, muscles, bones, ligaments and can manifest in tightness and even pain. Yin Yoga is designed to elongate and revitalize the deeper connective tissue in the body. It is the perfect balance for more active or "Yang" movement such as running, aerobic activities, and more heated yoga practices designed to stretch muscles and heat the body. Yin also helps to cultivate the body's subtle energy by moving negative emotions out and helping you to find a deeper sense of peace in your body, mind and spirit.

During this workshop, poses will be held between 3-5 minutes, to liberate the body’s chronic holding patterns, helping you recapture freedom of movement and restore joint mobility. Gentle Yang movements will be integrated throughout as well as pranayama breathing techniques and meditation. No experience required, all levels welcome.

About your Instructor: Laurie Markowitz, E-RYT500 and owner of Balancing Owl Yoga, studied with Josh Summers to complete her 300-hr. advanced teacher training in Yin Yoga and Yin Meditation and shares the practice of YIN in her Gentle and Deep Release classes. Laurie is also certified in iRest Yoga Nidra Meditative Practice and is a level 2 Reiki practitioner.
