RYT 200- Melanie is delighted to be a part of the Balancing Owl community. She supports students in finding their own deep and varied benefits of yoga through mindfulness, movement and continuing education about their changing bodies. Ready to step into a new path, Melanie chose to create a more balanced life after 15 years of teaching high school visual arts. With unlimited curiosity about the mind & body, especially in midlife, she continues her studies of yoga’s myriad physical, mental and emotional benefits.
Melanie found yoga as a young adult after a long flight. She spotted a book of yoga poses at a friend’s house and was quickly hooked as she found relief for her cramped, stiff muscles. Yoga has strengthened her physical health, inspired her confidence and calm, and nurtured treasured relationships with teachers and fellow students. As she continues her personal and professional practice, Melanie’s gratitude and respect for mind/body connection deepens with the ever-changing demands of “growing up”. Weaving together Vinyasa and Hatha yoga approaches, she also draws from Yin, Restorative and Chair practices to build sequences tailored to improve strength, longevity, confidence and calm. Her workshops focus on midlife-informed topics that build understanding of our ever-changing body and mind.
Melanie offers a Strength & Balance class on Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings.

Booking a Private Yoga Session w/Melanie (1-2 clients)- Melanie provides customized 60- or 90-minute personalized yoga sessions focused on building strength, confidence and calm for women in midlife and all phases of menopause. Each session is tailored to your unique symptoms, goals, and long-term priorities - whether that’s supporting your core & pelvic floor, heart & brain health, bone & muscle preservation or your overall resilience to life’s changes and challenges. Your session will be designed around a mat or a chair (or both!) to fit your needs and allow you to feel stronger, steadier, and confident in your body.
