Melanie Holm, Instructor

Melanie is delighted to be teaching at Balancing Owl!  She seeks to guide students to find their own deep and varied benefits of yoga through mindfulness, movement and stillness.  Melanie’s  brand new chapter has begun! After years of feeling the pull, she has courageously moved on from 15 years of teaching high school  visual arts and 2 years of yoga to continue her studies of yoga’s myriad physical, mental and emotional benefits.

Melanie found yoga as a young adult after experiencing deep discomfort from a long overseas flight. She sat on my friend’s floor unwinding from the trip and spotted a book of yoga poses.  Leafing through the pages she began to dive into a world of relief!  Yoga has strengthened her physical health, inspired her confidence and calm, and nurtured treasured relationships with teachers and fellow students.  As she continues her personal and professional practice, Melanie’s gratitude and respect for mind/body connection deepens with the ever-changing needs of “growingup”.  Weaving together Vinyasa and Hatha yoga approaches, she also draws from  experience in Ashtanga, Yin and Restorative practices to build sequences tailored to improve health, longevity, confidence and calm.

Melanie offers a Strength & Balance class on Tuesday evenings. She also teaches Chair Yoga pop-up classes and workshops.
