Harmony Villemin, Instructor
RYT 200 - Harmony first experienced the transformative power of yoga later in life during a particularly busy and challenging season of life. Her introduction to the practice came through hot vinyasa classes held in a darkened room, where the physical intensity was often very demanding, but where the darkness made it easier to turn inward. While the poses and flows were challenging, it was the wisdom of yogic philosophy, the unifying rhythm of breath and movement, and the moments of stillness that resonated most deeply. Yoga became a tool for quieting the mind during times of overwhelm, cultivating self-compassion, and beginning to make peace with her body.
After encountering spaces that did not always embrace diverse bodies or lived experiences, Harmony felt called to become a teacher to help others experience yoga as an accessible and supportive practice that extends far beyond physical postures. She completed her 250-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2024 and later earned a specialized certification in Prenatal Yoga.
Deeply committed to making yoga accessible to every body regardless of age, shape, size, background or abilities, Harmony strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where students feel supported and their unique challenges are respected; always encouraging students to explore their own unique paths within the practice. Drawing from her training and her time as a student at The Balancing Owl, Harmony thoughtfully incorporates modifications and prop suggestions to help students safely explore their practice in a way that feels nurturing and empowering.
While originally trained in Vinyasa-style yoga, Harmony is currently drawn to slower, more gentle practices that reflect her love for a quieter pace of life. She offers a range of class styles, from more dynamic flows to mindful, restorative sessions; always encouraging students to listen inward and honor their own needs.
Off the mat, Harmony finds the most joy in life’s simple pleasures: walks in nature, noticing the beauty all around, savoring a fresh cup of tea while cuddling with her kitty, getting lost in a good book, baking homemade treats for loved ones and, when she can, traveling and discovering new places with her husband. Two of her absolute favorite experiences in the world are to ground her feet in the sand and feel cold ocean water wash over her toes and to play around in a thick layer of freshly fallen snow!
Harmony offers Gentle Yoga on Saturdays at noon weekly.
