Melinda VanKirk is a certified RYT 200 Yoga Teacher, certified Yoga Health Coach, Reiki Master, and active Artist. Her approach to wellness is holistic - integrating mind, body, and spirit through a more creative and introspective approach to health. As an artist, former art teacher, and fashion designer, she understands the power of creativity to heal and transform.  Melinda is passionate about sharing inner healing with others in an authentic and transformative way.

More About Melinda

Q.- How did you first come to find yoga? I first came to yoga in the 90s while in college, looking for new types of exercise that I would enjoy.  I started with a short 25 minute video from Rodney Yee - and this became my daily practice for quite a long time.  

Q.- What are some key ways it has supported you in your life? Yoga began as a physical practice for me, but I realized soon after how much it helped me mentally.  Over the years my yoga practice has become the most important part of my day (combined with my meditation practice), to help me deal with stress, depression, and other difficult emotions.  Asana, or the physical yoga practice, has been a doorway to open me up to my spiritual self.  It has truly changed my life and inspired me to grow in my understanding of the world. 

Q. What do you like most about teaching? Connecting with all the amazing yogis that show up for class!  I love getting to know everyone, and making deeper connections with people. 

Q- Is there anything else you'd like to share about yourself? I am a stepmom to three wonderful grown children, and dog mom to a little Yorkie named Weezie.  I love to be creative - drawing, painting, sewing, ceramics, and all things artsy.  I used to be a high school art teacher, am a graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design.  I spent 11 years in the fashion design industry as a Technical Designer, before following my passion as a wellness coach.  

Q- If you could learn anything new what would it be? I am learner at heart, and am constantly learning new things - listening to a podcast, taking an online course, or participating in various master classes online.  My latest journey has been one of spirituality, understanding the quantum field, and how these are connected.  I am also deeply interested in Shamanism and Human Design.  

Q- Name something on your bucket list. Traveling to Europe and doing a tour of the Mediterranean - Spain, France, Italy, Greece - so many of the places I have always wanted to visit!
