Beginner Yoga Workshop
Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, 1-3pm
Are you new to yoga or at least new to yoga in a studio? You don't need to be flexible, fit, own yoga pants, or even a yoga mat for this introductory class! This workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of yoga including breathing (pranayama), some common foundation poses (asana) and how yoga can help quiet the mind and bring more peace to anyone. We'll also discuss basic yoga studio and class etiquette so that students feel comfortable enrolling in a class at any studio. Beginners of any level are welcome. Fee: $30 . Click Here for more info. or to register.
Thanks for your interest in Balancing Owl Yoga. We are located at 6017 Post road in Dublin. As a new student to our studio, here are a few things to help you get started and hopefully answer most of your questions:
How Do I Sign Up For A Class?
To sign up for a class at our studio for the first time, click on classes, check out the schedule and select "sign up" next to the class you want to take. This will take you through the process to set up an online account and select the type of pass you'd like to purchase. If signing up for a workshop, click on workshops and select "sign up" below the workshop you want to take. Remember to write down your email/password combination for future class registration. If you have problems with class sign-up, registration or have questions, contact us.
*It is recommended that you sign up online prior to attending a class to ensure availability, but you are welcome to also sign up at the studio at least 10 minutes prior to class.
$49 First Introductory Month- If you have never been to Balancing Owl Yoga and want to sample all classes, this gives you unlimited classes for 30 days from your first visit. A great deal! No commitment or contract! (does not include Specialty Workshops or Series).
Individual & Class Passes:
Drop-In Class: $15
5-Class Pass: $70 ($14 per class)
10-Class Pass: $130 ($13 per class)
20-Class Pass: $250 ($12.50 per class)
*Individual and class passes are good for regular classes on our weekly class schedule (does not include Specialty Workshops or Series). Expires after 6 months.
Cancellation Policy: If you sign up for a class and determine in advance that you cannot attend, log in and select "cancel" on your online schedule, call the studio or send us an email at least 3 hours prior to the class. This allows others to fill the spot. No shows and class cancellations within 3 hours of class forfeits the pass.
What Class Should I Take?
There are several levels of classes offered based on your experience and preferences. If you are new to yoga, we recommend any of our Gentle Yoga (Beginner) classes offered almost daily or the Deep Release or Yoga Physical Therapy classes would also be a great place to start. Any level 1 class is also appropriate for beginners. For a complete list of classes and descriptions, click here or contact us for questions.
What Should I Know As A New Student?
What to bring and wear: Wear comfortable clothes, preferably dress in layers, and bring a refillable water bottle (we have filtered water to refill). Bring a mat if you have it, or feel free to borrow one of ours located in a basket in the back of the room (after class, use the spray/towel provided to wipe down mat before returning).
Personal belongings: When entering our studio, please remove your shoes and hang coats/belongings in space provided in the front hallway. We lock the outside doors, but feel free to bring them into the studio as well of you're more comfortable. Ensure you turn off your cell phones before entering the building as other classes may be in session.
Sign in: If you have pre-registered online, go to the registration desk, sign in, and you'll be directed to your class. Please let the instructor know if you are a new student.
Please be on time: Please allow yourself enough time to sign in and settle into class. On your first visit to our studio, please arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill out paperwork prior to the beginning of class. During most classes, the outside door will be locked 5 minutes after the class start time to allow for your safety.
Yoga Props: As you enter the class, find a space for your mat. Take note of which props the instructor has assembled on their mat and find the same props for your space, or any you think you'll need for your practice. We also suggest taking an eye pillow and round bolster for shavasana (meditation) at the end of practice. After class, please return all props to their appropriate place. Be mindful to refold blankets to their original fold and clean borrowed mats.
Noise Level: We have 3 rooms at the studio so there is a good chance other classes are in session. While in the front entryway or registration area, please hold your conversations to a whisper to show respect for other clients
Refrain from wearing strong scents to class.
Yoga clothes should be stretchy and invite movement within the body. We recommend practicing in bare feet or with yoga grip socks.
Always practice at your own comfort level and let the teacher know if you have any injuries or would like modifications for any pose. We also encourage you to connect with your instructor after class to ask questions about the class.
The more you practice, the greater you will feel!
Can My son/Daughter attend class with me?
If you have a child between the ages of 12 – 17, they may attend class with you or another adult. If your child is under 12, we don’t typically recommend that they attend an adult class. Children should be registered and paid for separately.
